Defense Gone Wrong

Blinking cursor on the empty page
Echoes the monotony of my unrelenting chest
Numb to the way your feather touch felt
On my aching flesh

I’ve lived in the same place all my life
But I still know what moving is like:
Your arms no longer feel like home to me

Your gentle whispers are nothing
But insignificant tugs at my eardrum,
Your laughter is just a sound

I detached my heart from yours
Taking back what’s mine before
You could take it from me

But I regret everything
