Poetry: A Query

Tell me, poet
When you look around,
As the rest of us see trees and buildings,
Do you see stars?

Twinklings in the place of drab hello?
The gleaming sun
The mother of all infinite radiance?

The roads not yet traveled
Stoplights at each corner,
Are they fragments of a constellation?
Do we form something luminous?

Please
Just tell me that there’s more than this.
