Upon the Metronome

Upon the metronome
I sway along the calm horizon
Atmospheric melodies whisper in my ear
Alternating their tempos
Giving and taking their gentle sound

With every pump of my legs
Upon the metronome
I feel the music notes
Every sharp
Every flat
They run through my veins
With the waning light of day

Atop the mountain
I hear a canon
Sung in rhythmic motion
By the birds in the trees

They reach a chorus of epiphany
And in that moment
Upon the metronome
I find answers
